Spencer

Spencer is a weaver of nature in the garden, health in the body, wisdom in the mind, and music in the spirit. He studied Ecology, Environmental Education, and Eco-Social Design, as well as Permaculture, Yoga, Qigong, Ayurveda, Daoist medicine, and Planetary Herbalism from UCSD and UCSC to Gaia University, from Regenerative Design Institute, Ritam Healing Arts, Five Branches University, and East West School of Herbs. Spencer honors his teachers and elders on the path. Spencer is a guide to Nature inside and out, in the wild lands and hearts and in the cultivated space of gardens and consciousness. Having studied and practiced for over a decade, Spencer currently teaches permaculture and yoga, ancestral skills and nature connection, and also weaves his passions of yoga and qigong into vision quests that he guides, also for teens and adults. A lover of life, Spencer maximizes his time at his homestead, where he tends gardens enjoys tea.

  • Dao of Permaculture

    Come explore a weaving of both the contexts of Daoism & Permaculture as well as their overlapping principles and specific practices to deepen our capacity to cultivate land and qi. Learn to balance philosophical with practical, by identifying elemental energies to cultivate in the body and in the garden. From whole systems design to designing a cup of tea, participants will connect with some core plants and practices to leave inspired and empowered. From the three treasures to the three ethics, the five elements and zones of use, the bagua and microclimatic strategies, this workshop will weave wisdom from natural systems and cultures to create health and vitality in our homes and communities.

  • Ayurvedic Agroforestry

    From the context of ecological design of healthy humans and healthy food systems, this discussion will explore the foundations of each Ayurveda and Agroforestry, then utilize Ayurvedic wisdom to learn how to design place-based edible ecosystems. Using elemental approaches to maximize healthy systems, this workshop focus on rejuvenation and explore plants from the dual lenses of Ayurveda and agroforestry that can benefit people and the land. The role of Yoga and sattvic living as a whole will be addressed as they pertain to regenerative agriculture and culture.
